I had a nice little package waiting for me today I'm going through them and was curious of anyone needed any tech info as far as these are concerned. Included is a 26mm snap ring and a spacer shim just in case. Luckily I have 6 snap rings now There is a paper gasket between the cover and the body. Should I leave this in place or remove it and use RTV? I'm doing a full writeup on the installation and possibly a breakdown (depending on how easily I can handle the snap rings) And being the woman of the house, I can setup shop where I want to

Well there is a problem. Both dials have no springs or balls
Where can I find these? (without going to a dealer? none are near).
Other than that, they look great and oprate smoothly. I'll wait to install until I get those pieces.

Well there is a problem. Both dials have no springs or balls I would think the vendor you bought from should have supplied those. You may want to give them a call.

Those are specialized springs, not gonna get 'em at a hardware store...Independent4x has rebuild kits, don't know if they include the parts you need, and they probably cost more than you paid for the hubs.
Of course, Aisins are made in Japan, maybe you can go to the source!

True, I am in Japan. You'd think "imported" items would be easy to find... Actually, I have found a parts store that does speak a bit of English and they were super nice. I'll run by there again. Usually though, they have to "special order" parts. That is the answer I got from several places looking for other items. I don't know why or where these "special orders" come from, but they aren't in stock. And these were basic items like a fuel filter and wiper blade for a Hilux Surf (4runner).
I bought the hubs from a fella on Ebay. Everything that was pictured, I got. Unfortunately, the cover/dial wasn't disassembled in any of the shots and I didn't see the spring and ball were missing. The hubs are otherwise complete and in excellent shape. So, to my standards, they weren't misrepresented (unless he knew the parts were missing). I shot him an email and he responded back. Basically stating he's never seen a difference in how the dial operates with vs without the ball and spring. And he didn't think his current hubs had them either.
Well, not sure if I believe the second parts about his current hubs. As for the first part, it seems like without the ball and spring, that leaves the dial to it own devices. I don't necessarily trust the dial to stay put in either LOCK or FREE. It seems that a little movement in the cluch/hub would make the splines of the hub and the splines of the CV joint very unfriendly to each other if the truck is moving.
Am I confused?
I found a spring that fits as far as diameter goes (3.5mm), now I just need to find the correct tension and metal ball.
As for a bicycle shop, I have no idea where one is Do you guys think places are really that easy to find around here??
Ok, I keep looking. I'll find what I need somewhere. I cannibalized a perfectly good ratchet last night, but the ball was a hint too big. So, I rebuilt the ratchet and it works better than new

I get it now, you are talking about the little spring that tensions the detent ball!! Try it without those if you can't find what you need. It will probably be okay.
I thought you were talking about the big springs that help unlock the hub.

ahhh lol yeah, thoe parts were all there.
The dials turn and move as firmly as the ones I tried on a MU at the junk yard. So needless to say, I didn't notice they worked/felt differently without the spring & ball. Of course, they don't have the 'click'.
