where you going to run the extra lever to Joe. It won't be an extra lever. It will replace the existing lever. I was concerned about the interior clearance and shifting the t-case, as the one in it now is just a straight fore and aft throw. Jerry has told me the overseas Rodeos with the same interior have the older style t-cases in them. Just us lazy Americans want the thing to be shifted for us. Joe

Jerry has told me the overseas Rodeos with the same interior have the older style t-cases in them. Wow. That would seem to me to be a really compact short-throw shifter. The area does seem cramped, doesn't it? Post some pics when you decide to get on this, as I'd like to see how you deal with the plate you have to fab up (and I know for a fact that your fab skills are *much* better than mine! )

The only thing I'm going to have to fab is a cover plate with a few pieces of round stock welded to the plate so it will keep the shift ring locked.
I'm going to tear into it as soon as I get the t-case from Andre (Starchild).

The case should be the first thing out of the truck this weekend. Do you think you'll need the adapter? Not like I'll be needing it
You sure you won't miss the campground install? It's tradition with this case

I don't think I'll need that adapter. Tad has bolted up a 94 Trooper case to a 99 Rodeo Auto tranny. So I'd say I'll be fine. I will say keep it for me just in case, but it's probably scrap.

Keep us up to date. I'm curious as to the feasibility of that type of shifter being added to my '04 (I realize it is a different tranny, but the more info the better).

The more I think about the possibility of swapping a gear-driven transfer case (with Tera Lows in it) into my 2004, the more I like it. A couple of questions (keeping in mind that I know next to nothing about transfer cases):
Assuming (and it may be a big assumption) that a gear driven case is a direct bolt up, what else needs to be done?
Are there any electronics involved?
What about the length of drive shafts?
Since this has never been done before (at least for a 2004 Rodeo), I don't expect any definitive answers, but I'd like to keep this dialogue moving and hopefully get an idea of how complicated (and expensive) of a project this could become.
Thanks!

I know for a fact on mine it will be a bolt in. I will just need to put a custom cover on the vaccum disconnect to hold it "in" all the time. I have manual hubs so it won't really matter to me.
The driveshafts will bolt up.
On your 2004 I'm not sure what t-case you have. If it's the same as mine it will be a direct bolt in. The only thing I need to do is make my 4wd light work. It will be a minor issue.
I took my case out tonight, getting ready for the Tera case.

I've got the chain-driven transfer case (not sure who makes it) that is hooked up to the aisin-warner tranny that was used for 2004 only.

You'd have to look at the bolt patterns and take some measurments to see if they would be compatable.
