The heat was highest near the battery tray - which on the 3.0L is over the catalytic converter and Y-pipe on the passenger side - makes sense.... next hottest spot was on the driver side just past the radiator and over the inner fender - also makes sense considering fan rotation pulling air off the radiator and bouncing it off the hood.

All of this was on a 3.0L and not applicable to a 2.6L - likely a different heat pattern - BUT - the problem went away with a new fan clutch and radiator cleaning. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> .... and got even better when the engine was rebuilt and the water pump replaced. The fan clutch is a very, very important piece of equipment on a MMC product. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
