Need a Spot
am doing 20mpg

running on 18" 255x65

removed the bullbar & 3rd row seats (so rig carries less weight) & installed a breakerless distributor

Now if I could only loose about 10lbs maybe just maybe....

Misadjusted or leaking needle valve in the float bowl of the carb. Needs a carb rebuild kit.

Hi Guys.

i took your advice and took the carb to a carb specialist. 1st they said they cant do a rebuild as it has a plastic base???

Now they say the carb has a crack and the only way to fix is to do a weber conversion (for about $1000!!!)

Do any of you have any advice for me? I dont know if I should believe these guys or not, or if there is another option that I have.

Regards

Go to Mitsu and buy a carb base. Laugh at the shop people for thinking you're that dumb and take your truck away. Buy a used carb off ebay or car-part.com

If you can't rebuild it since it has a plastic base, why are rebuild kits available?

I've rebuilt three -- the plastic base has nothing to do with it. If it's cracked, then that is a problem -- what do you want to bet that either it's NOT cracked or that they did it? Paranoid? Maybe...

Anyway, I'd go somewhere else or take Eddy's advice.

Terry

I took some numbers and I filled up last week with 13 gallons and got 290 miles out of which = 22.30mpg that is driving at 65mph and been gentle with the huuummmph pedal. My Monty rolls on 235/15 and all stock.
