Hi

I have been doing some research of my own (I am not a mechanic, so I donÆt know how good this info is!) I have found on this forum, one guy had a problem like mine and found that he could see fuel running down the carb while the motor was idling... I see this as well when I look down the carb. Unfortunately there was no conclusion as to weather this was his problem or not.

I have also found that a warn camshaft could cause reduced power, sluggish performance and increased fuel consumption.

I have also found that a warn timing chain can cause:
Rough idle, Sluggish performance and poor economy, sudden engine performance change including the inability to start the engine, Intermittent backfire through the intake manifold, Inconsistent ignition timing or a clattering noise coming from the front of the engine.

My motor has done 270000km (+-168000miles).

Would any of you be able to tell me what the most common cause for my poor consumption would be?

Regards

Warren
