Major couses of poor fuel economy (in my experience): Blown Bowl Vent Valve, Blown Aux Acceleration Pump diaphram, disconnected vacuum lines, timing wrong. I've had all these, and the bowl vent valve was the worst (10mpg) and very hard starting. I think you can find any of these by doing a search on here. I currently get 22mpg with an auto transmission and stock tires in daily driving. Terry
