when I drove cross country in my 88 at 65-70 mph on the same sized tires I got a little bit above 21 mpg. As I drove further and faster I dropped down to about 19-20 mpg.

Once I turned the AC on I got 18 to 19 mpg.

This was with my first turbo Raider that had a five speed.

What killed my fuel economy on the last two Raiders was bigger tires and having an auto. Once I figured out that differant alligment specs and a lockup converter were needed its been a lot better.

A stick is hard to beat for fuel economy, yours sounds like its running very well.

I have the 2.6 carburetor engine on a 1989 Raider, right now im getting around 9 MPG in highway and 7 MPG in city, a lot of factors to decrease fuel economy, 33x12.50 Super Swampers, lots of off-road gear and the fuel down here in Mexico it's no so good Ahem, Ahem.

I meant that the gas in California is not very good either. I was in Mexico a few weeks ago and my car ran about the same on the gas I got there. It ran noticably better on the gas i got in Canada last summer.

what do you want to bet that either it's NOT cracked or that they did it? Paranoid? Maybe...

You were right. Second opinion, no crack. The first guys didnÆt even open the carb up... Second guy found a few things - pipes, tappets, CHOKE STUCK! Will let you know what eventually happens and if it helps my consumption.

Obviously it is standard for the first guys to just want to do a Weber conversion without even diagnosing the problem... What rip-offs.

Just in case anyone finds this post From South Africa. DonÆt use PINETOWN CARBURETTOR CENTRE they are a bunch of crooks!
