Getting the Wheeling Fever

Has anyone changed valve seals with head still on the motor? I'm trying to lower the oil consumption of my daily 4runner(22RE) without tearing into it to much. It runs great but burns through oil like a two-stroke <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> Its got over 170lbs on all cylinders. Thanks
