the biggest problem with attempting to remove the valve springs from these engines with the head on is that the rocker arms get in the way, and you can't remove them without undoing the head bolts and possibly compromising the head gasket. i was able to get the #4 intake spring and retainer off, but i'm not sure if it's possible on all the other valves. i could slide the rocker arm just enough to clear the compressed spring to remove it.t
