Weird. I just turned 7K on my 05 Tacoma and I've noticed about an 10 to 12% increase in gas mileage. I considered that there could be a trip meter malfunction or some other discrepancy but I duplicated the mileage in a controlled test (known distance and MPG.)
My truck is NOT heavily modified. I have a K&N filter and synthetic engine oil. It is lifted and big tires, but has been for some time. It is my understanding that the engine computer systems are intuitive and "learn" to output optimum engine performance and economy, can anyone confirm this?
Anyone else see this? (Not that I'm complaining.)

I went to synthetic at about 5500 mi. I'm trying the relatively new Pennzoil flavor.
Funny, back a long time ago, like back when I actually had one color of hair, the litmus test at a local race engine shop was "which oil you gonna run in this motor?" If you answered Pennzoil, you got a race engine. If you answered Valvoline, you got the direction to the door. I like Pennzoil so we'll see...

I have increased in my mpg also. On my 05 I have around 11000 miles on it and i am getting 20 mpg. It would be great if the mpg's continued to go up.

How about 91 octane, will that increase milage or performance?? If you engine does not *need* 91 octane (which it doesn't), then no increase in mileage or performance. It will just empty your wallet faster... hupptoy
