is there a technical name for the temperature sensor that plugs into the EFI system? And where is it located on our trucks (87 4runner 22re) I know where the sensor is that just goes to the guage. It doesn't function as both right? What sorts of problems could this produce if it was malfunctioning? Thanks for any and all help!

The ECU temp sender should be located below the throttle body, at least that is where the one on my '85 is located.
