This is going to continue to be a problem until we migrate over. We do not know the full scope of what the hacker did, so YMMV and all that jazz.

I add ad sites to my "hosts" file. It's what a pop-blocker does. My file is in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc directory.

I was going to reply to this guy saying that we got hacked, but I wasn't sure if that was confidential info.

Same here, seems like some sort of "official" announcement is needed.

Joe already described what happened in the "Problems" Forum.

I copied his comments to answer a question in the Isuzu Talk Forum. I then locked and stickied it.

Joe, that is a very responsible attitude on behalf of yourself and the site administration. Thanks, I think it's the only fair thing to do besides shut down the site until repairs are completed.

Good call, Joe -- I received a couple of calls today and was just coming here to suggest that. Looks like as usual, you are a coupla steps ahead of me!

Thanks!

First off, I am going to post the announcement as a sticky in the jeep talk forum.

Now for my story. I noticed right away on Friday that my browser was going to pages it shouldn't while at this site. Since it was the first site I went to I automatically assumed I got a virus from a friend that I had hooked into the network to do some work on. So during the weekend my friends came over and we went offroading, so I just stayed offline and assumed I'd get it straightened out Monday. After downloading 4 different virus programs and not being able to find any viruses, I decided today I would make a bootable "rescue disk" at school and tell you guys I probably wouldn't be on until I got sorted out. Also while I was here, I decided I should check to make sure everything was going fine. We'll it turns out it is doing the same F'ing thing here and THEN I checked my PM's... #$*%#&@$%*@#&@#$%^&%#$#%^^@#$%^&# it wasn't my Q#$!@#$@#$%^#$%!@ computer.

Man I am so relieved <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />
