Hello, can a failing ECU temp sensor cause the truck to run rich and of rough? Also, how easy is this to replace? thanks

Sure. Why? If ECU thinks the engine is cold, it richens up the fuel mix to make the engine warm up faster.

ok so lookin at the fsm is it nessesary to remove the sensor? or just test it with the motor cold then hot.

Can be tested in place or removed, whatever works for you. In place you'll only have a rough idea of the coolant temps, so you can just get a ballpark guess on whether it is working or not.

I recall checking mine when I had the intake off and took it out and cleaned off the side in contact with the coolant.

it def. sounds like a problem with that sensor or the egr. would this make it send a code? is that temp sensor the one labeled BVSV? im gunna check these few things. if I can't find the problem will the stealer find the problem for me for a diagnostic fee? and if so can I then just fix it myself without them doing the $$$ labor? i would hate to do this but I just want my new motor to run perfect.

sometimes it runs great when warm and sometimes it idles really low and rough cold or warm, but almost always hesitates before gettin on it

The BVSV is the Bimetal Vacuum Switching Valve that sends vacuum to the EGR modulator once the engine warms up to let is start operating.
