Getting the Wheeling Fever

I just rebuilt a 22re and when I started it white smoke and now a water leak down where the oil pan, block and timing cover meet (passanger side). there is also water in the oil. but no oil in the water. any suggestions? should I take off the timing cover and put sealent with the gasket?
