I, have a 95 with a fresh 3.0 w/0 miles, 127,000 miles on truck. I, also installed a new clutch, pressure plate and TOB. The engine was assembled with a complete engine kit from Engnbldr and the heads, crank and block were machined. I, also installed a new set of Downey headers. It has no dents or rust and the interior has one tear on the lower left side of the drivers seat. I'm thinking of selling it and was trying to estimate it's value, anyone have a clue?

Try KBB.com, take the Private Party Good value and add about $1500. The newly rebuilt engine wont increase the value, only help you get its blue book value.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.

Add $1500??? Around here, it'd pull in about 4-4500.

That's cause you have the evil road salt.

Maybe 5-6k if it's in nice shape and the paint's all shinny, and you can wait for the right buyer. Problem is when someone is looking for a 10+ year old truck, they aren't looking for a "New" truck. And dont' want to pay extra for a rebuilt engine in an old truck.

Yes and no. People have very high expectations these days, it seems, so they almost do expect brand new everything in a used car. That said, I'm still confused about the adding $1500 on top of KBB... Must be a regional thing?

Best thing to do is to look in the classified ads or the KBB in your area and see what the market is. A rebuilt engine is not that big a plus in adding to the price.

KBB is only a good ball park for a vehicle that hasn't been worked on other than oil changes and all the other stuff that's suposed to be done. I sold my 86 pickup for $3500 it only blue booked for $1900..... Why? Rebuilt engine and tranny, and the right buyer (who knew what he was getting).

I agree with OOP's look around your area for similar trucks, see what they are going for.

Add $1500???

If he still lives here in CA, he can easily get $1000 over blue book for a clean Toy, even if it is stock. '89 & '90 X-cabs sell for about $5k out here, some list for $7-8K. Last year I sold 2 "86's one a std. cab and one an SR5 4-Runner. I got $3500(asked $3800) for the truck and $4k(asked $4500) for the Runner plus an '85 2wd X-cab in trade. I cleaned up the X-cab and sold it for $2500. Both of the 4x's listed at or below $2800 in good condition for my area, both had a little more amenities than stock, bumpers, sliders/nerf bars, but not much more. Asking $1500 over KBB, will allow him to com down some and still make mnore than KBB, providing he isn't in a hurry.

couple of the options were put on after I bought it but, yeah. There's that. I def think that it's worth it to pay more than book value because these trucks ... are just worth it. And they hold their value well (as everyone here I'm sure will vouch for <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )
