This is I am certain because of the detroit. It handles all sorts of funny. Definitely because of the detriot. The 14bff detriot has its own 'unique' characteristics... but its not less squirrly than my D44 was with a No-Slip, just different in its own way. -Rob

Well big tires combined with a detroit and hydro assist because you can't turn big tires without it combine to make things quirky. I actually didn't notice the hydro assist so much until the bigger tires... but now it is more noticeable. I should probably drill out the power steering pump a little for more volume.
Rob, do you have any difficulties steering your beast with the stock box and pump? I seem to have some trouble when the front end is locked in even with the hydro assist.
Anyhow... just be warned... you may end up with a trailer queen...

I think the limitations of the isuzu box is the problem. -Rob

That makes me kinda sad. I was hoping I was going to have an easy fix for this problem. Saginaw boxes aren't exactly a joy to swap in either. The clearances on that side aren't too incredibly friendly. Now is it the box or is it the pump?

no, not the pump. I remember seeing flowrates for my pump at somewhere around 2GPM when I had my hydro winch... that should be plenty for hydro assist. however, if you examine the size of the box internals, they're dramatically smaller than that of a std chevy box. i'm not saying the pump won't be a problem, but the first concern is the limitations of the box IMO.

K, I plan on drilling out the bore a little bit on my pump just to make sure I get a little more volume. That is supposed to help with the speed more than anything else though. I will let you know how it works.
