Getting the Wheeling Fever

I have a 2001 Sportage, 2wd, auto, convertable, etc... Recently, it started missing when taking off. At first, it was pretty subtle and I thought the tranny was slipping (it was replaced once, under warranty). Now it's pretty rough, but only seems to happen when first started (cold or warmed up) and put into drive. Once I get moving, it seems to go away. I have no CEL on. I replaced the valve cover gasket and plugs about 3 months ago, because it was leaking. Any ideas?
Thanks much, Kris

couple possibilities:
vacuum leak, injectors, crack in rubber intake after mass air sensor

Thanks. I'll take a look. Good suggestions, keep 'em coming! I have a timing belt kit, but was waiting to get a water pump before changing. I have 90,000 miles on it.
THanks, Kris

Check coils for cracks. Also check the wires and spark plug #4 for oil that could be sipping in from the valc=ve cover gasket. Last time I had a problem like that if was for cracked coils.

I'll probably check the coils and for the oil leak. I already repaired the leaky vavle cover gasket twice! One thing that worried me, though, is that the connectors for the coil wiring harness were brittle at 30,000 when I first changed the spark plugs. They broke, but still seemed connected well. I may check that and just solder them on. I'm leaning towards the vacuum leak/electrical connection theories, since there is no CEL. Does that make sense?
Thanks, Kris

Ok, I recently did the timing belt/water pump job. Now, I get a good idle in park, but it still misses when in gear. Today, it started losing power when I press the gas. It doesn't die, it just "bogs" down. I can't get over 20-30 mph. It does the same thing in park, so it's not the tranny. Again, it's a 2001 with just under 100,000 miles. I've changed the plugs, two plug wires (not coils), fuel filter, valve cover gasket, etc... No CEL, either (bummer). I couldn't locate any vacuum leaks. Money is tight, so I'd like to fix it myself without spending a bunch of $$ (yeah right ) I would appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks, Kris

Ok, I changed the plugs (Once again) with Bosch P2's and the ignition coils. The miss is gone, but Im' still having the other problem where it "bogs" when I give it gas. I did, however, finally get a CEL. The codes that came back were P0171, P0172, and P0301. I fixed the misfire, but I'm getting systme too lean and rich. I've been checking vacuum lines, and can't find anything wrong. I checked for leaks between the MAF and throttle body, but didn't find anything. I also put a can of seafoam in the tank. Any other ideas?
Thanks, Kris

Ok, if anybody's interested. I found the source of my problems. The short fuel line that attaches to the inlet of the fuel filter got kinked in two places. I was able to straighten it, and it runs fine. Can that short piece be purchased alone?
Thanks much, Kris
