Getting the Wheeling Fever

Still haven't figured out how to get the search on this forum to return pertinant results...any tips or tricks to what I might be doing wrong?
Anyways, Tuesday I am going to be pulling my stock transfer case and swapping in a Marling 4.7:1 case. In the factory service manual and the Hayes manual they both say to completely pull the transmission and t-case out at the same time. I am thinking that this is probably like alot of the instructions and makes for more work than needed.
First Question: Can I support the tranny and just pull out the transfer case and swap in the new one?
Second Question: Is there any particular oil I should use (synthetic/regular) in the 75w90 weight?
Thank you very much!! I cant wait to try out the lower crawl ratio.

Prop up the tranny and pull the crossmember, drive shafts, and the speedo cable. Get a few cardboard boxes that fit inside each other and you can just help it down onto them if you're working by yourself (I always seem to be.....). If you have a helper the tcase should be easy to manage.

use a ratchet strap under the transmission. pull your fill plugs before you pull the drain plugs. next bring your old transfercase to the dakota territory challenge and give it to me.
