HEY BANSIL THESE PLATES ONLY APPLIED TO THE 92-97 V6 THE LATER ONES COULD NOT BLOW OUT BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN OF THE REAR CAPS ON THE HEAD THEY HAVE A RETAINING GROVE CAST IN THEM WHERE AS THE OLDER ONES DIDN,T ,AND USUALLY WHAT HAPPENS IS WHEN THE OIL IS NOT REGULARLY CHANGED THE OIL REURN HOLE BEHIND THE PLUG GETS PLUGGED THEN FULL OIL PRESSURE IS APPLIED AND POOP OUT GOES THE PLUG , I HAVE ONE OR TWO OF THE KITS LEFT FOR BOTH THE DOHC AND THE SOHC ,, ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO I HAD A CALL FROM SOMEONE LOOKING FOR THE KITS AND I HAD AT THE TIME 20-OR 25 SETS AS I PUT THEM ON EVERY ENG THAT CAME THRU THE SHOP IF THEY DIDN,T HAVE THEM , SO I SOLD THEM BACK TO A CO CALLED AIMI KNOW WHAT THOSE INITIALS ARE .. BET YOU CAN GUESS GIVE ME A CALL AND LETS TALK ABOUT THEM JERRY

I got the transmission pulled this weekend, and here's what I'm looking at
[Linked Image]

I haven't poked around too much. Does it look like I've got the retaining plates?

Any idea where the oil is coming from?

Thanks,

HEY ANDRE, LOOK UP AT THE BACK SIDE OF THE CYL HEAD , THERE SHOULD BE A SMALL PLATE WITH ABOUT A 1/1/2 INCH HOLE IN IT AND YOU CAN SEE THE OIL PLUG THRU THE PLATE IF IT IS THERE THE PLATES ARE GOLD COLORED OR CORRECTLY CALLED GOLD IRIDITE PLATING , THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE PLATES WILL BE BELOW THE PLUGS , SHOULD BE ONE ON EACH CYL HEAD AT THE BACK , THIS COULD BE WHERE THE OIL IS COMING FROM ANYWAY , EVEN WITH THE PLATES IN PLACE , THEY ARE THERE TO KEEP THE PLUGS FROM BLOWING OUT , THE OIL COULD ALLSO BE COMING FROM LEAKY VLV CVR GSKTS , NOT UNCOMMON, AND MOST LIKELY , SEND ME YOUR EMAIL AND I CAN SHOOT YOU A PIX AND MAYBE YOU CAN POST IT FOR EVERYONE TO SEE WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT I STILL HAVE A SET OF THE PLATES , THAT I COULD MOUNT ON A CYL HEAD OR BLOCK JERRY
