Getting the Wheeling Fever

Anybody else here have any experience with these? I bought them just prior to leaving on a cross country trip. I'm hesitant to pass judgement because all tires seem good when their new ... but these seem particularly good in the rain. Lotsa' siping. We'll see how they hold up with higher mileage. First 6k, during trip, were great.
I'm very curious to see how they do in the snow vs. BFG ATs.
They certainly don't have the same sort of off-road sidewall protection as my ATs but I don't think they weigh as much either.
If you're in the market, check them out.

Interesting. I did a printout of some of their tires to show to a friend who is a general manager for American Tires here. I'll post his feedback if he researches them.
What's your price locally for them?

On the same note, I'll be getting the Nokian WR's (pass car version) for both my Subaru and my 240sx. Just a matter of time and $$. stock size tires for the 240 (205/60/15) run right around $80 or so (I think) each and carry a 50k mile warrenty. They are the only all season tire to carry the severe snow rated emblem (that snow on the mountian symbol), or if you look at it the other way, the only snow tire to carry a 50k mile warrenty. Todd

I think I paid about $125 each.
Agreed, this wouldn't be a first choice for off-roading exclusively -- but for mixed use I think it's a pretty nice solution. The tread is actually pretty aggressive -- I think the online images are very deceiving. They've so far behaved better than my BFGs (ATs and RuggedTrail) on wet roads. Very curious about how the snow goes.
My wife had all-season Nokians on her last car and I was very impressed with their wet/snow abilities -- and they weren't bad in the summer either. I think their winter performance was better than the winter-specific Blizzaks she had this past winter.

Good to hear on the car tire performance. Before I lifted/SAS'ed my truck, I ran Blizzaks on it and it went through 6-8" of snow no problem, more with momentum kept up. (FYI, my truck started it's life as a 2wd). My DD doesn't have much of a ground clearance (probably about 4-5") so anything will help. Did you have the tires long enough to see how well the tread wore? Thanks! Todd

Honestly, no -- she got t-boned in that car and it was totalled before those tires were very old. I was most upset cause I liked those tires!

Did you have the tires long enough to see how well the tread wore? Nokians wear very well even though they're made of a slightly softer compound to increase their foul weather handling capabilities. I ran LT10s in a 31x10.5 flavor for five winters - about 40 months - and sold them to a guy who's put two more winters on them since. IMHO Nokians are the best radial, daily-driver type tires for foul weather conditions.

Well I ran into my friend. Says the Nokians are very good tires; they use walnut shells like they used to put into tires back in the 70's.
However, he said they're real good for places like where Adam and some of our Canadian folks are at, where you see -10/20F on and off thru the winter.
He also said that Blizzaks are still a better tire for the extremes of the Interior (-30 and lower), as they warm up faster from 'Flintstone" tires.
I'd still like to try some Green Diamonds myself. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
