Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I just noticed my speedo is out. Unfortunately I don't have the factory manual. Is it cable driven or electric and is it off of a wheel or the tranny? I changed the cable on my 95 tacoma before because it was ticking really bad so I'm just wondering if this one is the same style. It doesn't make any noise though. It has just stopped. Thanks for the info and advise in advance!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Get under the truck and look to see if its cable or electronic.

Cable with have 1 cable from the VSS. Electronic with have 2, 3 or 4 in the harness.

Body Damage is Cool
LOOK ON THE RIGHT REAR CORNER OF THE TRANS OR THE TRANS FER CASE AND YOU WILL FIND WHAT LOOKS LIKE WHERE A SPEEDO CABLE GOES ON THIS IS THE SPEED SENSOR, EITHER IT CAN BE BAD OR THE MOST COMMON FAILURE ON THESE IS THE DRIVEN GEAR TAKE OUT THE ONE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE COLLAR ON AND PULL THE SPD SENSOR AND THE COLLAR AS AN ASSEMBLY AND CHECK THE GEAR IF IT IS OK YOU COULD HAVE A BAD SPD SENSOR ALLSO YOU SHOULD HAVE CHECK ENG LIGHT ON ,THE PT NO FOR THE GEAR IS 8971446590 IT COSTS ABOUT 30.00 JERRY
