Vlad's ZuZoo video for all to see:
That red 'Migo around the 2:40 mark is darn sexy Here is what I have uploaded thus far:
Moab Zu Zoo IXThere is nothing to say about this event that could even come close to giving it the full credit it deserves. I waited 5 years to make it out; and had I waited 20 it still would have been more than I could have ever expected. The trails are the greatest 4x4 experience I've ever had; and I'm not new to this stuff... but the trails exist regardless of whether there is an event or not. The people out there are what make it great. I had only met 3 of the participants prior to that week; and yet was immediately treated as if I was walking into a group of old friends. Gwen knew no one walking in and got the same treatment (though, she usually doesn't have any problems making friends... especially when a lot of men are involved... I wonder why that is )
We did Hell's Revenge on Wednesday with the large group; but got moved around to run Golden Spike with the 'big boy' trucks on Thursday and again with the same group Friday night/Saturday morning for a Moab Rim night run. Very cool for the owners of such built trucks to let my little 'Migo on 32's tag along. Gwen did an excellent job driving some of the obstacles on PSM on the way to Spike... especially considering she had never driven off-road before an my truck is a 5-speed. I almost hate to thank anyone specific because I'm bound to leave some out. Plenty of good things to say about everyone on the trip; even more than I can say about the ones that made a particular mark on my experience.
Vlad for putting together the video.
Jeff Mason for letting a couple of strangers camp out in your living room and helping to trouble-shoot a truck late at night.
Steve W for the bottles of injector cleaner. He was more than willing to wrench on anyone's vehicle that needed it.
Steve (lttlbddy)... what's not positive to say about this guy. Friendly, down-to-earth, even let me harvest parts from his engine so I could make a trail run the first day while he sat at the cabin. I'm fairly positive that people like Steve are the reason the world hasn't imploded yet.
Randii, Kammy, Turbo, Mike, Janell, and Scout for being great camp neighbors. Randii has done a lot for me from a 4x4wire standpoint over the years as well; but this post will be Smiley-sized if I get into that kind of stuff.
Dan Houlton, Fernando, and Gilbert for their skilled trail leadership. All extremely cool people as well. I didn't get to see Gilbert on any really rough terrain, but I can say that Dan and Fernando are amazing to watch on the trail! I'm not sure who the better driver is, but Fernando definitely has prettier hair His co-pilot was better looking that Dan's as well
Arna and Dallas for use of their AC-equiped camper from time to time. I'm pretty sold on Arna being the coolest mom I'll ever meet... and not bad looking either
Peter (pplotz) and Dallas for hanging out with us throughout the week. I never was quite sure how to read Peter on the forum; but he was hilarious in real life... and his free-spirited approach to things is something we could all learn a lot from.
Mike, Aaron, Dan, Fernando, and Dallas for letting my baby Amigo share trail space with their behemoth vehicles. I just hope I didn't slow you guys down too much
Corbin for the drinks on day one and plenty of entertainment. He was the official Zoo Keeper this year and did a heck of a job.
And of course the entire 'Zu Zoo staff for everything that goes into making such a big event so seamless. The merchandise people should be particularly proud. Most t-shirts and such at events are pretty gawdy; but the stuff they designed was top-notch I'm wearing my t-shirt as I type this and my event sticker is going on the truck as soon as I wash it (which says a lot, because I hate stickers).
A big thank you again to
everyone that I met at the event... hope to see you all out there again
