The 2.6 has a lot more stuff in that area...VSV's and what not (?). The 2.8 is (thankfully) pretty conservative in the realm of vacuum-related..er..crud.

Body Damage is Cool
Ok , got almost all of the wiring under the hood done , but I can't find my pics of before I'm stuck on a couple of the plugs , no idea where they go to , somelook like they were never used as they are so gummed up with stuff.Heres a few pics of the plugs and if anyone can chime in and say where they go , that would be cool

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/shadowbarak/IMG_0722.jpg

This little guy is sitting all by his lonesome on the driver side of the truck , there is absolutely nothing that even comes close to where it is to plug into it. I think its a single wire , possibly 2 wires , and is an all weather style plug with a seal on it.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/shadowbarak/IMG_0725.jpg

This one is a single yellow wire with a blue stripe with one of those sealed plug tips on it.Its a long wire , wrapped in grey plastic.I get the feeling it goes to the tranny? , but I can't find anything to plug it into.Nothing under the hood either.

These next 2 pics are the same plugs , one is very dirty , suggesting to me it was never used , the other one is very clean. They both come out by the battery tray , under the headlights.Again , there are no plugs with that style of connection on them , and they only reach so far.

[Linked Image]

This one obviously goes onto a bolt or screw somewhere , but again , without my previous pics , I am not sure. Its a little oily , so I am guessing somewhere near the oil pan area?It comes off one of the main harnesses , underneath the cruise control(looks like a brake booster) on the inner fender , and its wrapped in grey plastic also.It has 4 wires on it , and where it bolts is square , not round.

Other than that , all the wires are plugged in.In the mean time I'm still searching for my other pictures , hoping I didn't delete them by accident.

The only grounds on the engine I know of are the one coming from the alternator and the one on the back of the head (I think it's on the d/s head). Does that lug reach that far?

If it's a Packard Weatherpack connector, it's gotta be for the engine. Any other weatherproof stuff (Yazaki) is Isuzu, not GM.

Those two twin connectors look like the ones for the horns...I'll get a better look later. Makes sense - one would be unused unless you had an LS/RS with dual-note horns.

The one with the yellow wire...definitely Weatherpack (engine). Again, I'll look for this one. Where is the wire coming from?

The one with the red seal, looks like Yazaki, probably not engine related. I'll look for that one too. It's by the p/s box?

Ok, found the black/white wire. It connects to a long wire that disappears into a harness that runs under the engine, near the lower radiator hose. Looks like it goes to the starter.

Confirmed that those two connectors are for the horns!

Still can't find the yellow wire...maybe for the coolant temp sensor? (that's two wires though). There aren't any other two-wire weatherpacks that I can think of.

That's the o2 sensor. Almost 100% positive. Drops back across the tranny, down to the o2 sensor on the driver side.

I'm not exactly sure what that is, but I can tell you that it's going to the ground on my battery. We couldn't figure out where that came from either when I did the swap. But I can tell you that if it's not grounded, it doesn't run.

Ok , the one with the orange bit on it by the power steering pump you figure runs to the starter?Maybe its something for the old style starter as I have no plugs on my starter now , just the live and ground ,Those 2 plugs for the horns make sense as I don't remember plugging them in , and I do have the LS , so there are 2 horns on it.

That one to the O2 sensor could be right , the reason I can't find anything to plug it into is I don't have the Y-pipes on , so there are no plugs there untill I get my Y-pipe put back on That last set of wires , I think it was bolted down near the knock sensor somewhere , but I can't remember , but if you says its just a ground , then thats where its gonna go , I still have one wire off the negative battery post wires that grounds onm the inner fender , so I'll just ground that along with that wire.Cool , that seems to solve my wiring problem , other than that one that might have gone to the old starter , but if it starts and runs without it when I get to that point , then I'm golden

All I can say is after this big project , I'm taking a well deserved break My girlfriend is going to take me on a cruise , we just have to decide where to go , and when exactly I can take some time off.

I think Richard is right on the O2 sensor...makes sense, since it's only one wire. My wiring diagram says white/green but it's a crummy one (chilton's).

I'll have to check the wiring diagram on that other one (black/white), but I think it goes from the starter relay to the starter. The starter relay is the clutch pedal cutout for manuals, or the park/neutral switch on automatics.

Edit: Yep, the thick blk/wht wire goes to the starter. If you wired it yourself, you don't need it (unless you want the clutch pedal to be depressed to start). Just tell everyone it's a hybrid (get it..gas AND electric).

I'm pretty sure I don't have any lugs attached to the ground on my battery, must be elsewhere. I was just outside installing the cruise control (for some reason I had to drill a hole in the gas pedal bracket - 88 different than 89??), and I didn't see that wire bundle.

Good luck and nice work (very jealous )

Ok , all wires are hooked up , except the O2 sensor wire.I did find that other wire that went to the one by the radiator and power steering pump , so I plugged it in.It was stuck underneath the rad , and it was black , so I didn't see it
