Since I haven't looked at any GM engines for years, it does mean something - at least to me..... it means that the arrangement just might work as I'd hoped. Thanks!

Why do you do this Frank? To go simply faster, or some mysterious hidden agenda?

You might sense that I am knocking you or your efforts...
But I just seriously dont know. Why ?

I think it's simply a case of "Can I do it"?

Of course we know the answer...

Because I can.

Faster?... no. Quicker?... yes. Mysterious hidden agenda? That sounds ominous..... so no - not at all.

If you are, that wouldn't matter to me.

Those are the simple answers. The more complex ones include several reasons. One is because the 3.0L needs more power to run larger tires and carry steep grades. Is it worth the cost? No. Is it worth the effort? No. It makes more economic sense to travel on the highway of conventional wisdom and just buy another truck. Not me - when it comes to rational thought, I like to take the off-road route.

Is it an extension of my youthful hot rod go-fast days of long ago when I tried to wring every drop of power from a N/A SBC engine? Yes. Is it fun to stick my foot in the go pedal and feel the power of a beast and hear the whine of a banshee? Hell, yes!

Everyone needs a hobby of some kind. When I gave up my former hobby of building boats, fishing rods and custom big game reels, I bought this truck on a whim - just 'cause I liked it. It wasn't too long before I went about my life's curse of "making it better". Somehow, I'm not satisfied with things as produced - houses, cars or whatever.... so everything becomes a learning experience..... I can't help it.... it just happens.

~ 20 years ago, I moved my family to the Washington, DC area, bought a building lot in Great Falls, VA.... drew some house plans and hired a builder. Before ground was broken, but after the clock was ticking on the construction loan, the builder disappeared. My wife was concerned and asked me what I was going to do. I said, "I guess I'm going to build a house." She asked - "What do you know about building a house?". My reply was..... "Not nearly as much as I'll know when I've finished."

So, it's my nature. I was once told by experienced charter captains that no one would ever catch a blue marlin off the coast of Myrtle Beach, SC because the distance was too far to run offshore, the fish didn't hang around there, etc, blah... blah. I didn't buy it, so I bought a boat... built it to my needs and set about proving it could be done - just to satisfy my belief that anything can be done if a person is willing to make the effort and put the time and resources into the job. Myrtle Beach's first blue marlin now hangs on my den wall as a reminder that I can do what I want... within reason...... and today, many folks fish for (and catch) blue marlin in the area.

When I tried to find go-fast goodies for my Gen1, I was disappointed - blower kits were available for nearly every other truck in existence, but not the Gen1 3.0L. Folks had put blowers on many transverse 3.0L cars, but most thought it too troublesome to attempt it on a longitudinally mounted 3.0L. So, I set about finding out why. Now, there are 3 others that I know about in Australia - in experimental trim. Perhaps someday there will be more.

As much time as I spent on '55 Chevys and such long ago, I've never built a S/C engine - never messed with EFI until I bought this truck. My skills were limited to flathead Fords and SBC engines with carburetors....... but in those days I could sure make one run faster than the average. When I became a man, I put away childish things...... but now that I'm old enough, I want to revisit them and see what I've missed. I have lots of catching up to do.

So, I do this:

1) because I can
2) because it's fun
3) because I learn

Good on ya, Frank. I, for one, watch this thread in anticipation of what I'll learn next. Someday soon, I want to come see you and your handywork (as well as that blue marlin )

He is doing it because a forced induction is the only way to go. If I could find a supercharger kit for my montero I would spend the money for it in a flash.

When he gets it done, he's gonna patent it and produce it for the masses?

I was going to give alpine superchargers a call and see what it would cost to have a kit made. I read some place that they used to make them for the 3.5. And there was also a place called cappa that make a kit if I remember right.

I checked thoroughly a couple of years ago. Neither one then made - or now makes - a kit for the 3.0L 12v.

Either Alpine or C.A.P.A. once made an Eaton 62 blower kit for the Gen2 3.0L (would not work on the Gen1s) and the other once made an Eaton 62 blower kit for the 3.5L. A check of both sites now indicates nothing is available for Mitsubishi vehicles.

Ripp once made a 3.0L Gen1 centrifugal blower kit, but it sure was an ugly mess.... fairly simple, though.

If you want one, you'll have to go the custom route.

We get screwed when it comes to after market parts. If I do any thing it will be a twin turbo set up. I will use two 14b turbos and have some one make some manifolds for me. Then make the switch to e85. All I am looking for is around 80hp more and I will be happy. Well that what I tell my self I thought low 11s and traps of 128mph would be good but now I want more
