Well, if it's that important, get your pocketbook out and you can buy this one after I get it running and I'll build another one on a 3.8L block. If I were you, I'd wait until you see if I can get a few thousand uneventful miles on it, though. How much torque can a lockup KM148 handle, anyway? Once upon a time I called Mitsu customer service, and got them to connect me to some engineer there who said it was good for at least 300ftlbs. It's pretty tough.

Thanks, Eddy -
300 ft-lbs, eh? Hmmmm.... a 3.8L with a blower would easily exceed that.... better start looking at transmissions before I do any more doodling.

If you go with a 3.8, just go with the big auto from the 3.5 in the SR and sports. The 5 speed auto is what I want but the control is Canbus so one needs to get around that. The control for the 4 speed is simple to work with. It still uses a cable for throttle pressure. Plus the super select may be wanted since you should be up in the 400'lb range. that could put a hurt on the rear tires.

The 5 speed auto is what I want but the control is Canbus so one needs to get around that. Interesting, Charlie - The next version of MS will include CANBUS architecture, along with sequential injection and multiple coil drivers. I haven't kept up with their news lately, so I don't know the availability. you should be up in the 400'lb range. that could put a hurt on the rear tires. Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Today, I need to figure out some wiring issues - like how do you hook up 4 wires to a 6-pin IAC motor? There are 2 center-tapped coils, so the choice would appear to be to use the ends of both coils - or - use one end and the center tap on each coil..... it does seem like the step number would be reduced, though. like how do you hook up 4 wires to a 6-pin IAC motor? The Mitsubishi applied 12v to the center wires but the GM system MS is designed after these go to ground. So you will want to ground the centers and the MS signal goes to the ends. I have not done this yet so time needs to be spent to get the pairing correct.

Thanks, Charlie -
I'm going to dig into the wiring diagram and the MS manual in a few minutes and see what's what.

In looking at the MegaManual info on unipolar stepper motor coils, it would appear that I can wire both coil center taps to the ignition coil B+ and connect the 4 wires from the ECU to the coil ends as shown in the MS diagram: pin 1 = Coil 1, lead A pin 2 = B+ pin 3 = Coil 1, lead B pin 4 = Coil 2, lead A pin 5 = B+ pin 6 = Coil 2, lead B MegaManual pageFrank

Charlie -
I have a similar issue with the TPS. The TPS has 4 pins and the MS wiring diagram shows only 3 wires.... ground, Vref and TPS signal.
The Mitsu manual says pin #1 is ground and pin #4 is sensor power.
When I connect an ohmmeter to pins #1 & #3, I get the smooth increase in resistance, so I assume pin #3 is the variable TPS signal to MS.
Does this look correct?:
pin #1 = ground pin #2 = Vref pin #3 = TPS signal pin #4 = 12v+ switched
Or is one pin unused?
