The driver circuit is controlling the ground/ trigger side of the coil. Correct - through the VB921 driver circuit. This circuit is closed when no power is applied from the processor, If the coil were to receive power it will be grounded through the driver inducing a high current flow. Maybe I'm not following this, or there's something I don't understand. If the MS "+12v switched" wire, the coil and the distributor sensor are all powered from the key switch, then when the key switch is OFF, how would the coil receive power? Frank

When the key is off, it is just that off, the coil should not be powered. In the MS world somehow there have been those that had power to the coil with the ECU off. I am not sure how. The part that I was trying to get through and I expect I over complicated it was that the ignition is all powered only with the ECU being powered. Are you aware that in many Mitsubishi vehicles the ignition and many sensors remain powered for 20 seconds after the engine is off.

Are you aware that in many Mitsubishi vehicles the ignition and many sensors remain powered for 20 seconds after the engine is off. Yes, but I "think" that's because it takes that long for the Mitsu ECU capacitors to bleed off. If that's correct, then since I'm not using the Mitsu ECU, that shouldn't be an issue. I'm now finishing up the distributor wiring. Since I'm (hopefully) powering the distributor sensor through the key switch and not through MS, it seems to me I can take the sensor (-) lead to engine ground instead of MS without fear of a ground loop..... we'll see if it works. I still have to wire the o2 sensor before I can "test-fire" it. For now, I'm leaving the wiring open and accessible so I can make any needed changes..... provided I can figure out what the heck is needed. This thing is mind-boggling. Just when I think you have it all figured out, the devil sneaks up behind me and starts giggling. Frank

The distributor is not a resistive input so yes it can go to the engine. Preferably the same ground point that the MS will share.

MS is grounded at the passenger side inner fender. Since the distributor routing is now on the driver side, I'm going to try grounding it on the engine and see if it works..... but it might want to be at the MS ground like you said.
I have everything wired now except the 02 sensor and the constant B+. None of the sensor/distributor/coil wires are taped yet. I want to see if it'll run before I tape the harness. So, maybe tomorrow I'll lay out the 02 sensor harness on the garage floor, temporarily wire it and see if it'll start. I've read enough of the MS horror stories on their forum to hopefully prepare myself for serious trouble.
I've had enough fun for today!

If I recall you did get a wideband O2?

Yes, Innovate LC-1.... I looked at the TechEdge you suggested and liked it a lot, but since I'm a MS newbie, I thought it might be better to get the most popular one in case I have trouble.
I see it needs a switched power source, also.... so now I need to back up a bit. I didn't plan as well as I thought - should have drawn a schematic of the entire system before I started.
I don't know if I'll get as far as a start attempt tomorrow. I'll have to take the blower off to install the throttle body heater hoses and CCV hose, cut a blower plate gasket, re-install the blower with a temporary lower intake gasket, install the radiator & hoses, fan, belts, crank for oil pressure, install the plugs & wires, plug in the wiring again, wire & calibrate the o2 sensor and do some sort of witch doctor impression before I can connect the injectors & coil and turn the key.
I spend too much time just looking at it, even though I know perfectly well that the work won't do itself and nothing happens until I actually pick up a tool and use it.
The past few days have been weird.... my wife doesn't understand (and I can't explain) how tedious it is to sort through the wiring on something like this, simultaneously reading the FSM, the MS ECU manual and the relay board schematic. So, I'd go to the garage and do some figuring... get just about to the point where I was ready to cut a wire and she'd open the door to talk and there went the train-of-thought. So, after the conversation was over, I'd go back to the same beginning point and get ready to cut the wire again, and here she'd come.... again..... over and over.... for days. So, now she's in Va. Beach visiting one of our daughters...... maybe I can get something done.
