Thanks - I'll take another look tomorrow and see what I can figure out.

I missed this question: Are you running the Opto or going direct to the processer? I installed the Hall/optical input circuit, so yes - I installed the opto-isolator U3 in step 50.a.vii. I did not install any of the circuits in step 50.b for triggering off the coil negative terminal/points. I did install the VR circuits as outlined in step 51. Frank

Take a look here for wiring the Opto, MS2X There is a diagram for wiring V3.0 board to get a signal from the dizzy. These diagrams are for a 24V engine but the circuit is the same. They show adding a 150R to the existing 390R, generally get the 390 out and just use a 450R for the pullup.

MS mods, If you look at the V3 board with the 37 pin connector to your right, install the 450R from the left side of R12 to the lower position of R42 just above it. This will give you the +5V needed. Also with the wideband you have, remove C10 that is at the very lower right end of the board. The guys at Innovative blame this cap for the failures of the LC1 units.

Take a look web page . They're saying: 1) remove C30 (I did not install it and did not jumper it) 2) add a 690 ohm resistor from the top of C30 to +5v on the proto area. For internal links, they show: 1) jumper TSEL to OPTOOUT (I've done that) 2) jumper TACHSELECT to XG1 (I have NOT done that) I still have XG1 jumpered to XG2 as called for in step 52. Here are pictures of the top and bottom of the board: ![[Linked Image]](http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/6933/img4041vp6.th.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/6001/img4039dg3.th.jpg) Frank

The new 450 ohm resistor should be 1/2 watt, right? Yes,Yes and can be a smaller wattage, it is only firing the LED inside the opto. The instructions you refer to use about 1100 ohms, 450 seems to be more reliable. There has been much more development over on the Extra site. XG1 to XG2 is the original ground path from way back, no longer used. Here are two pics from two years ago on one board, this is heavily modified. It now is running the MS2 processor. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.vermontel.net/~dcma/PA110014.JPG)

XG1 to XG2 is the original ground path from way back, no longer used. Should I remove/cut that jumper? Should I jumper TACHSELECT to XG1? Frank

Should I jumper TACHSELECT to XG1? Yes, this needs to be done. You can try using existing 390 ohm R12 from the +5V, it will pass a bit more current but to make the next step to get it fired up. Then change it out later to lower the current flow. If that saves a trip into town.

I got a package of 1/2W resistors from RadioShack that includes some 470 ohm resistors, so I'll use one of those - that's within the tolerance range and shouldn't cut the voltage enough to matter.
I have TACHSELECT jumpered to OPTOIN as outlined in step 52 (for the Hall sensor, optical sensor, coil negative terminal or points). So, I should remove this jumper connection from OPTOIN and connect the removed end of the jumper to XG1?
AND, I should remove the jumper from XG1 to XG2, right?
