So, I should remove this jumper connection from OPTOIN and connect the removed end of the jumper to XG1?
AND, I should remove the jumper from XG1 to XG2, right? Yes remove the XG1 to XG2 jumper and connect XG1 to Tachselect.

All done and ohhh soooo close! It's trying to fire, but sounds like it's kicking back against the starter. I've moved the distributor from the middle to either extreme and got it to catch for a couple of revolutions, but it dies out quickly.
Where would you look first.... ignition timing or fuel? It sounds and feels like an ignition issue... maybe too much advance.

In Megatune, go to Base ignition settings. Top of the red boxes, change Ignition capture from Rising to Falling, Burn, Save, reboot and try starting again.

It started, idled high and sounded like death eating crackers..... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> I shut it off, rotated the distributor - sounded the same on restart. After 3 short times of running, now it won't start.
I sure hope the noise I was hearing is an ignition timing issue - sounded terrible - fairly loud irregular knocking.

Something stupid like fireing order? You can move the timing under Base ignition settings, at the very top of page. This can be done without reboot as well as with it running once you get there. It is normal at this point to deal with lean start issues since the cold start parameters would be way off.
If the time it ran was consistant it may only be running on afterstart enrichment.

It's not even trying to fire now.
When it ran - other than the knocking - it seemed to be running smoothly.
I'll try to move the timing.

Now it's trying to fire, but not catching.
Under base ignition, you mean move the trigger offset number that you changed to 60? If so, do I need to "Burn to ECU" after each change?

Fuel pressure gauge on the regulator shows ~40 psi.

Pull the left belt cover and check cam timing. Maybe it kicked hard and jumped time.
