A few things control idle.
The wax element thermo valve is Mitsus primary fast idle control. That combined with the settings if MS is opening the ISC valve may combine to high idle.

If the timing is advanced it can drive up the idle.
I expect the throttle cable goes slack as it should.
I would not worry about a 2K idle this early in the game, 4K yes.
There is allot to learn still

No start, but it tries about once every revolution.

I hate this stage of the job.

Any feel of the mixture?

Not until I tried starting with the throttle cracked - then I smelled fuel.

I'm going to look through the manual and see if there's anything I've missed on after-start enrichment. Maybe an adjustment to REQ_FUEL will help.

Check a plug to see that it didn't flood.

Frank, I'm out of my depth here, but also, if you can get it to idle at least once more, do the old nose tuning trick. Sniff the exhaust. I KNOW you can smell the diff between unburned fuel, rich, and lean smells. You can then start doing incremental changes in the right direction.

Are you sure you still have spark? You are in terra incognito on ignition control here, as well as fuel.

I've also made a lot of fubars like the timing cover bolt, and think I've learned to check closely after every one...

This project is a BIG bite out of the unknown, folks. And artfully done. Bet it finishes out the same way.

One last ?. Are you datalogging the running events? If the ohtwo is kicking in, you should have a readout on fuel mixture's state re rich/lean.

The data logging is a manual start stop operation. It does collect a whole bunch of info.

Eddy -

For the short time it ran, I was too busy watching the oil pressure gauge for initial engine start - that seems ok - high, but I assume it'll come down after the assembly lube is dissolved.... just didn't have enough time to look at any of the laptop readouts.

Datalogging is something I need to learn how to do with this. so I don't have any info yet.

Charlie -

I noticed that afterstart enrichment is set to taper off at 40 seconds - is it just coincidental that about 40 seconds is how long it ran before it died? When it died, it was a mixture issue - not the fast cut of ignition.

Also, don't forget I've installed the Mitsu IAC as if it were a GM unit, so it could be reacting differently than expected. I tried unplugging it and cranking with the throttle cracked - nothing.

Frank

That is why I bring it up, it can add enough fuel to carry the engine masking a lean condition.
Look at the warmup enrichment and make sure it is adding enough fuel. I can look at it from here also.

The Warmup enrichment is not real aggressive. Are your temp readings close to your true ambient?
From what I see the cold afterstart is not setup.
These settings are different from the Extra code I have been working with so I may be limited here.
Will it start on a shot of Either or fuel squirted in the throttle? Yah, scary to do on a blower engine.

I don't think I want to try ether or gas in the intake duct. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Sensors appear to read accurately compared to ambient conditions.... I don't understand the value of 10.0 on the o2 wideband, though this is while the engine is not running and that might be what it's supposed to be until it gets something to sniff.

Here's what I get with the engine not running:

Real-Time Variables
Barometer (kpa) = 101
o2 = 10.0
Coolant (F) = 55
Batt (v) = 11.10
Throttle (%) = 2.8
GammaE (%) = 100
MAP (Kpa) = 100
MAT (F) = 57
RPM = -0-
PW (ms) = 4.1
IAC DC (%) = 100.0

Corrections/Enrichments (%)
EGO = 100
Baro = 100
Warmup = 100
Air Den = 102
VE = 100
Acc = -0-

How should I set it?
