that's common for alot of vehickes now a days... and a even some of these antiques would cut off compressor when sensing a great load on the engine. I think Isuzu 4 banger does.

I dont think lower idle will be a problem. When I had an open coil in IAC , the idle would drop from 600-400 with A/C on.
