I don't really have anything to add. I just wanted to claim post #1000 on this thread

Ahh that dang rollover to another page, I thought Eddy had it, so he closed out the first 1000 and Clay opened the second. It is good this project will go on so Frank can achieve a 2000 post thread

I was only the 2000th poster, including the original post. Clay was the 2000th reply...

Frank, I think the problem is all in the lightbulbs. I think you need to review and incorporate the light bulb post in this one, and we'll nuke the server. Just think, the technically perfect combined with the totally inane. We'll draw schitzes from all over...

This view is becoming too common:
[Linked Image]
I neglected to post this picture during the build - it shows how the restrictive collector was removed and re-jiggered for a flanged 2.5" Y-pipe outlet:

After your blower has eaten a roller bearing cage and roller, here's why you don't just change the oil and filter and hope for the best:
[Linked Image]
Not only do those pieces of steel and aluminum go into the cylinders and get smashed into the valve seats, some make their way past the ring end gaps and find their way into the sump:
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
from where they can migrate into undesirable areas - like between this rod bearing and journal:
[Linked Image]
The main bearings and journals look ok:
[Linked Image]

Since I had the piston pins pressed instead of installed as floating, I'm hoping I can clean up the pistons without worrying about contamination between the wrist pins and bushings.... since the mains are ok, I'm assuming the oil filter worked and kept stuff out of the oil gallery. The rod journal contamination probably was from sump splash which shouldn't have gotten on the wrist pins.

Anyway, it looks like a cylinder rehone, crankshaft polish, new bearings, rings, a valve and seat dressing, new valve seals, gaskets and oil seals..... and a very thorough block, piston, rod, oil pickup and oil cooler/lines cleaning is in order.

The Magnacharger rep called to say they've inspected the blower and found that I experienced a rear bearing failure..... really? They're now rebuilding it.

Frank

I asked about engine damage and suggested that their product should be liable for damages..... offered to provide the labor if they would pay for necessary machine work and needed parts. He spoke with a supervisor, called me back and said we need to take it one step at a time.... nothing was off the table, but they want to see the blower first.

OK, back to the stuff on the table. Are they going to pay for your engine parts and machine work?

As always, let me know if I can help with anything.
