OK, back to the stuff on the table. Are they going to pay for your engine parts and machine work?

I don't know yet - that was the last question I asked.... the answer was that he would have to talk with his supervisor, since he had never experienced this request before. I suggested that surely they have product liability insurance and since they have admitted that the product failed within the warranty period, that failure has caused further liability. So.... I'll wait for an answer..... perhaps they should take a look at these pictures. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I don't want to even suggest that they have been anything other than forthright so far. They immediately acknowledged that there was a bad batch of bearings. That's not MagnaCharger's doing, because they use Eaton rotors and bearings and install them in their own case design. I've heard that GM also had some bad bearings - GM blowers are supplied by Eaton... as are Jaguar, Mercedes, Ford, etc. So, it would seem that this should go back on Eaton, if MagnaCharger wants to make it happen.

Sometimes there are limited warranties that try to limit claims to the purchased product only, but there is certainly an alternative view when that product fails long before the expected life and causes damage to another product.

Since I do my own engine work, I've offered to charge no labor if they pay for reasonable costs to repair the damage to what was a fresh engine with less than 7,000 miles on it.

So, I'll wait to see what they offer as a solution. I have a sense that they're very reputable and fair folks who build a great product, but sometimes get caught in their reliance on suppliers..... and I don't think they want to see that reputation tarnished.

Larry - thanks for the offer. I may be in touch with a parts list shortly..... not yet certain of all I need, and some parts (rings) will have to come from elsewhere. I just hope I can hone and re-ring without needing new pistons.

Frank
