Has it got 10v left on it? You can fix it with epsom salts if it does...

I think his Concord is sealed completely. Don't think that will work???

No, that won't work - it's a sealed AGM battery.

I did find some corrosion between the posts and adapter clamps and I can now read 5.75v. I doubt it's recoverable, but I'm going to make one last attempt to desulphate it with cleaner connections.

Frank

Just giving you (not deserved) cr@p, Frank, but this is being held up over a battery? I'd bet there's guys on here that would be happy to pedal a stationary bike hooked to a generator to get 13.6v for ya.

Looking forward to the (positive, in more ways than one) outcome.

John B.

AGM revival huh?

From shoulder height drop it on its terminals into some dirt (so as not to break the posts through the top) then try to charge. This method revived a optima red top AGM for me once got another 3 years out of it for PA_JERO.

There is a site with a bunch of ways to bring them back, but thats all the way on the internet somewhere.

It does sound silly to hold this up while I tinker with a battery. I'm making some progress recovering it, but it's probably not going to be a reliable fix. I just looked to see when I bought the battery and it was in December '04. Since then, it has been abused by sitting for long periods without charging, so it's time for a new one.

So, now I'll hold it up while I wait for one to be shipped.

Nothing wrong with tinkering

That engine looks really lovely, as usual

I brought a reclaimed battery home from the yard and stuck it in temporarily to move this along a little...... pumped out the year-old gas and put in 5 fresh gallons of 93...... primed the oil pump, connected the injectors and......

IT's ALIVE!

There is nothing that sounds so good as a fresh engine firing off for the first time. This one sounds like it might be a good one after I sort through a surging at idle and a light popping in the exhaust I can hear at 2000rpm...... I think it might be the o2 sensor that needs calibrating - it's been sitting a year and I forgot to calibrate it before I started the engine. I got 80+ psi oil pressure on startup..... have over 20 psi at idle and 45psi at 2000rpm.... the oil pump relief valve appears to be working properly....... no fluid leaks.

The sound and picture quality of this phone is terrible, but here are clips near the end of the 2000rpm 20 minute test run in the garage:

Video 3

Up close and personal, it sounds lovely.

Now I need to drain and refill the fluids, change the oil filter, put on some tires and go for a break-in drive.

Frank
