I want to put 31x10.5R15 TSL's on the STOCK 95 YJ wheels with a 1.25" shackle lift. Does anyone know if the tires will rub the leaf springs during turning in front? Will I have other clearance issues, I really want to run the stock wheels. Thanks for the help

There is a small STOP adjustment bolt on the front that will stop any tire/spring rubbing.. Just unscrew the bolt 1/8" or so and any rubbing will stop. Big Jim

Thanks, I have since found an article/post on the forum offering just that as a solution. It seems the bolt will either be welded or not, and to back out the bolt if not and to add washers if its welded. Does the YJ have it not welded then if you suggest backing it out, do you know? Do i need to do the same to one side as i do to the other, whether it be backing out the bolt or adding washers?

IMO: Get your tires, put 'em on, and tinker. Apparently it can be done.

I don't know what hte YJ has for stock wheels but the TJ has problems with 31s unless you get wheels with more offset.

Your tires will hit the fenders on a hard bottom out, and they will rub the springs unless you change the stop.
IMHO, just run the tires until you get a lift or something. If your jeep is going to be used for serious offroading, a little plastic fender damage and rubbed springs are the least of your worries.

Yes, I also have a body lift to get the fenders out of the tires. My friend's TJ, who I sold a set of rims to that had better offset, no longer rubs the frame but still has issues on serious articulation. A three inch body lift totally removed any possibility of 31s rubbing on my fenders even under the most extreem conditions.

Sunder, great thanks for the help. I am going to put a 1.25" shackle lift on first, do you think that'll keep me out of the fenders on full articulation ? To find the steering stop, when looking at the jeep front on will it be the bottom bolt on the knuckle? is it welded on yj's? do i need to do the same to one side as i do to the other? thanks

All of the yjs I have messed with had a bolt with fine thread and a nut to tighten to hold the bolt in place... Simple to find just turn the wheels till they stop and then LOOK! The bolt in question is what STOPS the wheels from turning more. Big Jim

I've got 31's on stock cherokee rims on my 91yj.I'm also running a 1" shackle lift. I've stuffed the tires pretty deep, and haven't smacked them into the fenders. I still need to adjust my bumpstops. I do get a bit of rubbing on the springs when I turn really sharp. My next project is to build some tubular fenders for the front to see if I can run 33's without a lift.
