OK, realisticly without getting all technical and having to do a lot of work... these are my 2 options for storing my 60" Hi-lift. Which do you guys think is the best of the 2 methods?

there, there are 2 options.

for the sake of keeping your back seat, i'd go with the first option. either one would work but i guess it all depends on how many passengers go out with you or how much gear you pack out on the trail.

For starters don't make your new base a permanent fixture,
if it is removable, you don't have to account for it while mounting
the jack.

Given yor criteria for inside mount, I would look to mount it outside
on either the rear bumper or front one. Looking at your pic site,
I think figuring something out for the rear bumper is your best bet.
I don't think you can do much with the front, it sits in to close.

How much clearance do you have between the rear bumper and the
gate when it is down? You migh be able to weld some bolts to the top
and mount the jack there. Otherwise you might consider building a tire
carrier that the jack can mount to.

nope, the base is just gonne be a peice of wood I have in the cargo area. Seems like the rear bumper is quickly becoming the most logical spot. what about ontop of the rock rails on the driver side IF I can clear everything? is that a totally retarded idea? b/c on my rear bumper i'd have to mount it "under" the bumper. kinda worries me like that.

If it didn't hang out further than the sliders it would be o.k., never seen it done that way. Although if you use your sliders as a step at all, the jack might get in the way.

If there is room on the front bumper to mount up some tubing to act as a brush guard, you could mount it on top of the tubing, might look a little funny.

Bandits set-up looks like a good idea for the trail as well, if you don't plan on adding a swing-out tire carrier.

Another option depending on how tall your roof is, or how tall you are, would be to fab up a safari roof rack(or buy one), and mount the jack on it. Of course this is the more expensive way to go.

Be a shame to mess up that purty carpet...but if you get it dirty, it won't work right..here's how I mounted mine..

Keeps it out of the way, very secure with the padlock and the devil's red-eyed hound guarding it...LOL
