I carry mine inside most of the time but it's bolted through the roll bar. I would strongly rccomend either bolting it to the floor or somehow hard mounting it if your going to store it inside.
The risk of that huge chunk of steel flying around inside cab during an accident is not worth the convenince of just grabbing it.

OH, if I have it inside it will be SECURE. No way is that thing gonna be flying around... I already thought of that. I just laying it in there for picture purposes. I really like the bumper mount bandit did. I don't wanna put it on the roof b/c i A-it's expensive, and B- wana keep weight low as possible. So I'll probly fab somin up like bandit and get a pad lock for it. call it good. that way I keep my seats, interior and all.... seems like the cheapest, lowest weight point, easiest way to mount it.

My buddy Ron put his on a stock bumper. He used some big rubber blocks and long bolts that go through the bumper and sandwich the jack onto the rubber. His lock is just a short cable that locks to the HiLift to the Draw Tite hitch.
It's on a Cherokee but I don't see why it wouldn't work on a Toyota bumper.

Good to hear you plan to secure it.. Here's how I did mine although it is only a 48" version.. also storing it w/o the base and as you can see, it's also set up to work as a puller.. The base is stored on the left side and held in place with a welded in bolt with a wing nut, the same as done with the hilift..

I also have a 100lb / 100AH gel cell battery in the steel bin "basket" (slightly visible inside the expanded metal in the lower right corner.. It is completely contained in steel and with a steel top cover (with electrical insulating material on the inside) so it wouldn't go flying in a accident.

The Hilift mount and the storage bin is one welded together unit (sort of a permeter frame around the right side and forward of the rear storage area and held down with 7 bolts through the floor and with large washers on the underside.

This shows how the base started out that the hilift mounts were added to.. (and the plastic bin replaced with steel when the 100lb battery went in...

Looks like a challenge to fit 60" in without being diagonally across the floor.

Well I packed my truck up tonight for tomorrow's wheeling trip. MAN IS MY TRUCK PACKED!!! I have the 60" jack in the back, a 35x12.50 Spare tire in the back, 10 gallon Air tank, and a rubbermaid container with my strap, shackles and misc inside. it's all ratchet strapped down secure. I had to put the back seats down. I'm About to just just remove the back seats and turn that area into a flat area. No way possible for me to wheel with 3 or 4 people. But I think the jack mounted to the rear bumper some how, and with a pad lock is my best bet in the long run. I just couldn't get it all done after work tonight... got off at 9:30pm. I'll start brain storming some bracket ideas and stuff. Thanks for the input and help guys. Looks like I got it figured out.

Why not mount it to the celing somehow? Then, it is easily accessible without having to move anything, and inside?

a buddy of mine had a GENIUS idea. he's working on his right now. in rear... cuting out the floor and basically sinking the spare tire. like a lot of cars have in the cargo area. Supras are like that. it's a sunken tire well with a fake floor over it. so i'm gonna look into fab'n that up. and I have a 3" BL so that might help things out quite a bit.
