 95 Passport - Where is the starter?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
A friend of mine was underneath my Passport and couldn't find the starter. He asked if it was an internal starter. Meaning, it would be inside the bellhousing.
Is this true?
If not, where is it?

assume 3.2 v6.
Look on driverside of engine,under the exhaust manifold and ontop of the oilpan.
Might be able to see it thru the fendergap on drvsside.
easiest to see it from under truck.
