Does anybody have a write up on how to repair the power widows on a Rodeo both my front windows the cables are unwound and I am not sure what needs to be replaced and how to wind the cables

By "the cables have unwound" do you mean the electrical cables that run to the motor?

I'm not familiar wih the power windows, but isn't it just 2 or 3 wires? Shouldn't take you more than a couple tries to figure it out if that's what it is.

Or are there braided steel cables that pull on scissor arms?

I have tried to rewind the cables on mine several times. But once they fall off tracks they get kinks and are almost impossible to keep wound. I would recomend just purchacing a new lift system (cable, reel, tract). Its just bolts on to the old motor and you stick it back in the panel.

Its been a while but it was fairly easy to remove from what I remember. First you remove the door panel and plasctic, easy to figure out. There are 3 screws that hold on the motor and 2 screws that attach the window to the tract guide. They are hard to get to depending on the location of the window, need to find holes in the panel to get to the screws. Also, 3 or 4 screws holding the tract in place. And everything should come out as one unit, its diffiucult to snake it all through but if I remember right the upper left hole was large enough.

Just start ripping at it, its not difficult, no real gotchyas. There may be some extra screws I may have not remembered <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

My passenger rear window just stopped working last night and I haven't looked at it yet cause I wanted to get some info on the forum. And unfortunately, it stopped half way so I can't close it.

When I push the window control button, I hear the motor going, but the window is stuck. Would this be a similar problem like "cables falling of track"?

If the cable falls off the track the best thing to do is to leave the window alone until you can take the whole motor out. As far as I know there are two types of window regulators, the cable/track type and the gear teeth type. My trooper is the cable/track type and I have "fixed" the left rear multiple times. If your cable is kinked it can be straightened out with pliers but it is very frustrating to go through and rewind the whole thing. I guess all I'm saying is that you just have to open the whole thing up and mess with it, pretty self explanatory. Good luck, it can turn into a PITA.

You guys were right. The cables fell off track and were all kinked up. Impossible to wind back into track and would most likely fall off again! I spend way too much time trying <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

A little white piece of plastic pulley-like part that the cable goes around also broke.

Does that come with the track system? The motor still works though. I didnt know they sell them separately. Does anyone know how much they cost?

And would this be part you would get from an Isuzu dealer or something like Autozone or Advance Autoparts?

YOU HAVE TO BUY THE COMPLETE WINDOW REGULATOR , RETAIL PRICE THRU A DLR IS ABOUT 130.00 AND IT IS NOW BEEN MODIFIED TO LAST A LOT LONGER, AND IT IS THE SAME FROM 1991 THRU 1997 THE PT NO FOR THE RT RR DOOR IS 897104 9981,, HTH FOR EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS ELECTRIC WINDOWS , IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THEM LAST MUCH MUCH LONGER ,EXCERIZE THEM ABOUT ONCE A WEEK AND KEEP THE WINDOW TRACKS LUBRICATED WITH A GOOD SILICON SPRAY RIGHT IN THE TRACK , YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT HOW MUCH EASIER THE WINDOW GOES UP AND DOWN AND HOW MUCH LONGER THE REG WILL LAST , DUST IN THE TRACKS AND INFREQUENT USE WILL CAUSE THEM TO STICK . I don't know what the "complete" motor assembly consists of. Other parts connected to the pulley system broke and I want to make sure I order the right parts. Is there a pic of this online somewhere?
