Hard to believe you can't stay cool in New York.
My clutch fan keeps me very cool here in California and I wheel in the Sierras as well as the Death Valley area. Something is wrong with your truck if it is not keeping cool. Check for air blockage going into the radiator, and for proper ignition timing (too far advanced can cause overheating while under load).
Most guys I've known that installed an electric fan, threw them away after a year or so, when they failed. Nothing like OEM to get you home.
