After some thought one thing the HEI or TFI may have over the stock setup, in my 87 YJ at least, is it may be more water resistant. The advance arm in my stock dist is exposed. I thought that it was missing a cover when I bought it so I went to get another and the new one was open too. Susceptible to allowing water in the opening for the advance. I actually would like to keep the stock setup and maybe seal the distributor somehow. A good wave of water will cause problems.
