ok so this is already being done so thats a good thing. as for weight im not concerned cause shes slow as hell anyway and 80 to 100lbs is not much considering the aggravation of scratchinh the new paint or staying out of the woods. question? how did you prep for this stuff? i feel like im not doing any bodywork either since the little dings wont matter if i dont paint. my buddy will shoot it as long as i can get it. im a similar marron color. thanks for the replies. it proves to my buddy it has been done and i think it looks better than i thought! thanks Tim

OK- as for prep, there are a few questions- You say your buddy will shoot it if you can get it??? Am I assuming you're wanting to use an over the counter DIY product? If so, there's not much I can tell you except follow the label. I've yet to see one that I would pay money for, but I'm a little prejudice. The Herculiner is great for the money for trim areas and tub linings, but I truly believe it would look like hammered sh*# if you tried to do the whole thing. Also, the color (if you could even get the color you wanted) will not hold up. The product I use can't be "sprayed by a buddy" It's a two part system that is heated to 170deg, and pressurized to about 2500psi. It requires specialized equipment and training. I always get asked what the customer can do to save himself some money. On a complete, about the only thing is disassembly. The masking requires specialized tapes and positioning (you'll want your doors to open and close and your windows to roll up and down), so I'll usually tell people it's gonna cost more if they start fiddling with it. One thing to warn you about- I don't know if you care or not, but even if you use a reputable shop to have this professionally done, you will lower your resale value. It really only appeals to a very select few.

thanks for the info. i havent found anyone locally willing to do it yet so that was the main reason for doing it ourselves if possible. id also not like to go on the cheap either. im not worried about resale anyway since they are so cheap to buy anyway.

I have seen jeeps done that way inside and out. Buy the kit and do it yourself. When you drive around town, you might want to put a bag over your head so you will not be recognized.

I don't know what happened to my clean truck picture. Mine was done by the local line x dealer. Someone hit me from the side instead of paint I did this. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.picturepuppy.com/images/vmax2005/dsc018482.jpg)

It's impossible to lower the resale value of a Gen 1
