Where is my horn? #729571 06/07/06 10:29 PM

It's sort of embarrassing really. I've owned this truck for three years and never noticed I didn't have one. I guess I wasn't much of a horn user. Well a year of living in the Northeast has revealled my lack of horn!

Where is it supposed to be? I can't find it in my engine compartment though it looks like there's a clean spot on the drivers firewall. Is that where it should be mounted?

Just wanted to make sure before I bought one on ebay. Also, what does the wiring plug that connects to it look like? I'll try to locate that as well. Thanks.

It's behind the grill.

Mines been dead for about 5 years, I've substituted the middle finger

I should replace it one of these days, our roads are getting more crowded, and the drivers seem to be getting worse as well

Mine has only worked once in the five years I've owned my truck. The time it worked was when I said to my brother "yeah, the horn doesn't work... see?" and of course that ONE time it worked! It was a freak incident.

90% of the time, it is the horn contact mounted behind the steering wheel. Pull the steering wheel and you will see a brass ring. Pull it off and put a small washer under it at the three screws. This will help it have a better contact with the pin. You can get a replacement pin from the dealer and just pull the switch assy and it has a C-clip that you need to remove and undo the wire and replace.

Check your fuse before you go tearing into the steering wheel.
