Thanks for the help. Yea, the hazards work. I pulled the wheel and saw the ring, but didn't pull it off. I cleaned all the contact points and lubed them with vaseline but nothing yet. The horn works in direct circut with the battery. I'll try little washers behind the ring next, that's a good idea. The pin seems to have a spring (like ballpoint pen size) behind it. Can that spring be replaced with a heavier one?

Thanks again.

You could replace the spring, but I have had pretty good luck with the washers. You could order a new contact pin from the dealer also.

No problem any time. I have owned and worked on Toyota's since 1988. I still have my first one too. I like to share and help out anytime I can.

Body Damage is Cool
Before you bother trouble shooting the horn, replace it. The factory horn is about as powerfull as a kiddie bicycle bell. Pedestrians at ten feet can hear it, but that's about it.

I have hooked up air horns in all of my trucks. I do agree the factory horn is very wimpy. I use a relay to turn the compressor on using the factory horn wire as the relay trigger. Nothing like waking up the sleeping motorists that try to take over your lane too. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/sleeping.gif" alt="" />
