i have been crusin around this forum for a little while, and was wondering if anyone out there has supercharged their 5.2l grand cherokee. I just bought a 1996 grandcherokee laredo 5.2 and have put on a k&n intake and highflow cat with flowmaster 40. I love the power the intake gave me, and the sound the 40 brought, but i also put on bigger rims and tires. Now my friend with a 5.0 explorer is gainin on me, and was wondering what other options i have. i saw a new cam set, as well as regearing, but i figured a supercharger would be pretty stinking kewl, especially when i beat my local ricer pack with my 4x4 jeep. (I can take a intaked and exhausted ford probe with a crappy looking wing as it is, but i have my eyes on lexus with a wrx engine in it!) Thanks for your time Nick

I have never heard of it myself but the 318ci has been around for a while, I'm sure there is some stuff out there for it including a supercharger. You may have to run a procharger setup due to the lack of space to work with. I would first go to the gears that are a good match to the tires and wheel size you chose. Not many racers on this board but there may be one or two lurking.

there are alot of things that can be done to a 318 but it will get expensive quick.the reason being is not as many people build up chryslers, mainly ford and gm.that causes the prices to climb.Check out mopar performance they will have stuff to stomp that pos ford in the dirt for sure.DO IT FOR ME PLEASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEE i can't stand fords

well if it makes you feel better, the almighty ford mustang, a 00 gt i think, or 99, with a bigger throttle body put out 230 at the wheels, meanwhile in the other dyno room, a brand new chevy cobalt ss put out about 213. i for one dislike ford and i laughed when i saw the results, not hear but SAW. but as for the main topic, i know they have superchargers for the amc engines, 2.5 and 4.0, but i havent heard anything about the dodge engines. i know mopar has heads for those engines, you could try that.

Julio Dyno results can mislead folks. NASCAR engines dyno at over 800HP.. If you put one of those in your Wrangler it would not drive around the block! Much less drive up a rocky trail! Dyno schyno is what I say! Engines should be built for the desired results. That same engine with the larger TB prolly don't run worth a hoot till it gets out of the streetable rpm range. a 800 hp nascar engine would be great in a wrangler, if it was going to climb rocks at 6-8 thousand rpm's. the mustang was run from idle up to redline and thats the peak horses it put out.

I know a guy that builds nothing but dodge engines(a mopar freak)i will give him a call this weekend and see if he knows what can be done for bolt on power. Just to let you know how much of a freak he is.he bought 2 old chicken houses(the long ones that chicken farmers use). he has 1 with old mopar muscle cars and the other he uses the front for a garage and the rest for part storage. he has a 70 hemi cuda and a 68 hemi roadrunner the rr he bought brand new and completly restored it a few years back. not to mention the other toys. im gonna mention a couple engines he has that some of the older guys may have heard of. a 413 wedge, and a 396 i think hemi. they are rare to find the hemi was mid to late 50's and was in a desoto ,the wedge was late 50's to early 60's.he ahas a few of each. dad bought a 413 wedge cross ram from him (2 4 bblsitting diag from each other).dad is working on a 36 ply coup he is gonna squeeze it into that. this guy built a 340 for dad ,(the origional engine)for dads 69 dart swinger dad had to add severe heavey duty chain to the front.everytime he would kick it in it would snap motor mounts. so as you can see if anyone would know what to do it would be him,he does keep up with the new stuff also.

One of the fellows I work with as been thinking about getting one for his 2001 Chevy S-10 with 4.3. Any gas mileage improvement?

80CJ... The answer is positively NO! The only possible improvement a K&N might give would be at WOT and there ain't no milage in that throttle position. Big Jim
