I've thought about the same setup, with the added benefit you can run the winch off the rear receiver hitch. Also you keep the winch out of the elements during all the times you aren't using it.

'94 extra-cab 3.0 extra slo (auto tranny) original owner. E/B o/s valve heads and no more crossover. More mods to come.
