i was sitting at a drive thru window recently, and noticed the temp. gauge was slowly climbing up. is this common with the sportage? has anyone else had this problem? my wife drives a sephia and we've never had an overheating problem with it.

Replace your fan with an electric one, you will appreciate it in the long run.

Need a Spot
My 2000 was doing the same thing, temperature rising when standing still...had a bad fan clutch...easy to change...$120 for fan assembly from Kia.

My Sportage used to be picky about cooling, it liked to overheat sometimes...

I switched to an electric fan and never looked back! We get 120 degree weather sometimes and my Sportage won't overheat no matter what I do!

It also helps to have a good radiator. This might sound strange but last time I replaced my radiator, I put in a copper radiator instead of the aluminum, because it was cheaper. Well folks, I swear the copper has done a better cooling job... and it was cheaper...

It makes sense I guess since copper is a better conductor than aluminum, you just gotta be careful it's not as rugged as aluminum (or something like that) and it's heavier for sure.

I have a brand spankin new Fan Clutch that was never used. I bought it for the sportage and then traded it and I still have some parts left over. If your interested in it just PM me or email me triston@enter.net. I'll take $50 for it + the cost of shipping. that shouldn't be too damn exspensive. I think I payed $120 for it.

2001 dodge dakota bone stock right now.

thanks for the info guys, but now i feel really stupid. i finally got a chance to check the radiator, and even bought the thermostat to replace, but decided to check the coolant levels first. wouldn't ya know, it was half a gallon low. so i refilled the radiator with 50/50 from the parts store and it runs like a top. now to get the oil changed.
