put new crank bearings in the 22re while it was still in the truck, what would cause the crank to lock up tight? so tight i cannot turn even if i hang on a 1/2in drive ratchet... whats the deal?

no its not in gear...

you didn't put oversized bearings on a standard journal crank, did you?

thats what it sounds like. if not, take out the plugs...but dont force it. rod bearings btw...

nope... crank is .010 and so are the bearings...

just to clear up, are we talking about rod bearings OR main bearings? I assumed rod bearings since you said you did this while still in the truck.

can you post a little more info surrounding the reason for this rebuild?

did it turn before, or was it locked up?

you can't rotate it either way?

put a main cap on backwards opps... bearings and crank looked fine... hope it runs

NOW I STRIPPED A HEAD BOLT, WAS ONLY ON THE SECOND PASS ON THE TORQUE SEQUENCE ABOUT 40 FT LBS?

HELI COIL?

Just did the same thing, very hard size to find 12mm x 1.25
I had to order mine from toolsqwik off ebay they got the kit.I decided not to get my head milled like an @ss and stripped my exhaust side out.

I was just about to say that; I did the same thing during my assembly and couldnt figure out what I did wrong.
