My TJ skid plate (the one that covers the tranny/transfer case area) appears to have been attached with self tapping sheet metal screws on one side
My best guess is the Tranny shop lost the stock bolts when they installed a new clutch a while ago. In any case, any one know the stock bolt sizes so i can reinstall them?

You won't be able to reinstall if they used self tappers 'cause doing that changed the threads. Might use a drill, bolts, nuts, washers, and locktight.

Is the frame hole threaded, or is there a nut welded inside the frame before it was boxed? I had one of those on the skid plate on my CJ that came loose. Someone before me actually drilled a hole in the side of the frame rail so they could get a wrench on the nut to take the cross member off, rewelded the nut, then patched the access hole.

Can't you pull one out of the other side and see what size it is?

I would take em off, but Im afraid of not being able to get the plate back on, the thing is rediculously heavy.
I dont THINK its like that, im pretty sure its threaded..
