That's the same welder I have (one of them anyway). Cool idea for the shackle placement. Seems like it will help keep the height down with less of a 'rock magnet' effect than many of the other shackles-up-front I have seen. How far foward are you extending the wheelbase? This is that welders 3rd SAS, so good so far. I think the wheel base will end up around 110 or so. the set up is coming along nice so far, i like how the shackles are up higher and the axle is forward so it should have a nice aproach angle. hopefully we can get it finished before we get kicked out <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

axle is forward a good ways, probably 6 or 7 inches. I'm going to try to find some uncut fenders to start over with, since it looks a little goofy right now.

I'm worried about those shackles swinging the spring eye right into the crossmember on full travel. Have you cycled the suspension to check?

The idea behind the hanger is that the crossmember will stop the shackle from inverting on extension (or when it is extended and I run it into something). And because the shackle mounts stick out a couple inches from the hanger, it has room to swing a little past verticle before it hits.

I dont remember running into interference when we were putting it together, but if the spring does hit then I'll have to run a longer shackle and move stuff again, or try different springs. wouldnt suprise me if that happened <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

got my ford tre, inserts, jam nuts, and some tube for the drag link. sunday we will get that all together.

I also need to do the rear suspension. and theorhetically, I could just run add-a-leaves and a longer shackle for the time being. once I sat the truck down on its old 35's, it is suprisingly low. as in less than 4" taller in the front than the rear. but I doubt I could get the rear flex to balance with the front if it's stock leaves sua.

I could run some longer chevy springs in the rear, and the height and flex would be comparable, and they would probably wrap up less than the stockers- but that would be more work, time, and money than a simple soa. and since I'm planning on running some sort of linked rear before too long, why bother right <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
